Building Athletes Before They Know They’re Athletes

FAST Running - Owayo

At FAST Running, our youngest athletes don’t arrive thinking about performance.

They arrive to move, to play, and to be part of something.

What they don’t realise — yet — is that they are beginning a structured journey in athletic development.

More Than Just Games

From the outside, a FAST Kids session can look simple.

Running. Jumping. Chasing. Competing.

But underneath that is a carefully designed system focused on developing fundamental movement skills that underpin all future performance.

Every activity has intent.

Acceleration patterns are introduced through games.

Reaction and decision-making are built into simple challenges.

Jumping and landing mechanics are coached through fun, repeatable tasks.

The session feels like play.

The outcomes are anything but accidental.

Movement First, Performance Later

At this stage, we are not chasing times or results.

We are building:

  • Coordination
  • Balance
  • Rhythm
  • Spatial awareness

These are the foundations of speed, power, and efficiency.

Athletes who develop these early move better, learn faster, and adapt more easily as training becomes more structured in later years.

This is long-term thinking in action.

Confidence Through Capability

FAST Kids is not just physical development.

It is also where young athletes begin to:

  • Try new skills without fear
  • Work within a group
  • Listen, respond, and engage
  • Experience both success and challenge

Confidence grows from capability.

When athletes feel more in control of their movement, they approach training — and competition — differently.

The Same Principles, Scaled Appropriately

What makes FAST Kids different is not just what we do — it is how it connects to everything else we do.

The same principles that underpin our high-performance athletes are introduced here in their simplest form:

  • Posture and movement quality
  • Acceleration mechanics
  • Elastic strength
  • Consistency and structure

As athletes progress into FAST Accelerate, FAST Track, and eventually FAST Performance, these concepts are not new.

They are familiar.

That continuity is what allows athletes to develop with confidence and clarity.

A Starting Point, Not a Separate Program

FAST Kids is not a standalone offering.

It is the beginning of a pathway.

Some athletes will go on to compete at high levels.

Others will take their movement skills into different sports.

All will leave with a stronger foundation than when they started.

And that is the goal.

Because at FAST Running, we are not just running sessions for children.

We are building athletes — before they even realise it.
