Alumna: Rebecca Jarvis Canberra Running Coach, January 25, 2020November 23, 2023 Rebecca Jarvis (Bec) trained with FAST after she had finished Little Athletics. Bec was looking to stay active and get a little faster. Bec had already represented the ACT at numerous National Championships in both Cross Country and Track & Field. Bec was a Junior Coach at Ginninderra Athletics Club and has completed a Level 1 and 2 coaching course. “Steve sees something is wrong and he fixes it. He helps people and he helped me. I remember when I went away for Nationals one year. I was in a different state with different people about to run a race. I was really nervous and unsure what to do or how tactically I should run the race. Steve was there and he helped. He was calming, supportive and gave advice that made me feel better. Steve took me from being anxious and frightened and feeling like I wasn’t good enough to feeling calm, excited and confident. I ran that race with more confidence and strength than I had ever competed. I have Steve to thank for that. Steve’s ability to inspire and support and make you feel ok about things is something that I think is very unique and special. Steve helped me learn how to use blocks when I didn’t know how. He showed me the right way to hold a discus. He always knew my times and was one of the first to congratulate me when I got a PB. He posted positive stories about me on Facebook and the webpage and made me feel important and worthwhile. He encouraged me to grow and develop as an athlete. He supported me to try new events, he made me laugh and he inspired me to dream. A couple of years ago I was running and I tore my hamstring. I was very upset and in a lot of pain. The idea of not being able to run was devastating for me and I did not know what to do. Steve organised for me to do pool work with another athlete, wrote me a program and supported me through my injury. He did this because he cares and always goes above and beyond to help.” Alumni Community FAST Track News Testimonials FAST FemalesGinninderra Athletics
