Mathias Leaps Forward: 6 Metres and Growing Strong

FAST Running - Mathias - 6m Jump

In sport, progress is rarely a straight line. For FAST Performance athlete Mathias, the journey over the past season has been one of resilience, patience, and determination.

After a run of on-again, off-again injuries — including two hamstring strains since April — many would have expected progress to stall. Instead, Mathias has shown what can be achieved when structured training, professional support, and a positive attitude combine.

Last month, Mathias delivered a breakthrough performance in the Long Jump, sailing out to 6 metres. This wasn’t just a number on the results sheet — it was proof of how consistent rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and technical adjustments can add up to something special.

Behind the scenes, Mathias has been focusing on the small things that make a big difference:

  • Building hip stability and strength to reduce injury risk.
  • Refining jump technique to unlock power through take-off.
  • Staying committed in the gym when running wasn’t possible.

That commitment is now paying off. The 6m mark is a sign of what’s possible, not the finish line. With the ACT Secondary Schools Championships at the end of September fast approaching, Mathias has every reason to feel confident. His story shows other young athletes that setbacks don’t have to be the end of the journey — in fact, they can be the start of something even bigger.

At FAST Running, we call that Running Excellence: finding strength through challenge, and proving that with the right training and support, massive gains are always within reach.
