Children under 12 years of age from right across Canberra are enjoying their first taste of FAST Kids, the athletic program focussed on gross motor skills and one of the fundamentals of all sports, running.
The training program conducted in small groups encourages participation with a focus on fun and fitness. FAST Kids is a non-stop activity keeping children actively engaged for 45 minutes.
Kids learn about good running form explained at a level that they understand which includes age specific exercises that emphasise proper execution. Individual feedback is provided including positive encouragement directed to each participant by their Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt.
Every week there is a new focus, building upon the skills learned in the week prior. Children require no prior experience or knowledge of running to participate.
This week, participants enjoyed their running training at Stromlo Forest Park in the south of Canberra. The FAST Kids training venue can vary and the location is notified each week in advance on TeamApp. Changes in venue provide FAST Kids with the best possible location to practice whilst enjoying the greatest places to run in Canberra, north and south of the Lake. This creates a positive and fresh approach to training and ensures children remain engaged each week happily.
