Dual international bronze medalist Canberra Sprint Coach, May 8, 1995February 8, 2024 The Arafura Games is a multi-sport event where athletes with a disability compete in the same program as able-bodied athletes. Called a “meeting of Sporting Neighbours”, the Arafura Games takes its name from the Arafura Sea, which lies between northern Australia and Southeast Asia. Nations along the Arafura Sea originally formed the basis of the Arafura Games, however in recent years countries from further afield have participated, including United States, England, Brazil and Liechtenstein. Following the completion of the third Arafura Games in Darwin, Steve Dodt has now won two individual Arafura Games bronze medals (400mH and Long Jump) at the 1993 and 1995 Arafura Games respectively. These medals compliment Steve’s Gold (400mH) at the 1993 South Australian Athletics Championships, his many Gold medals at both the Northern Territory Athletics Championships and the ACT Athletics Championships. As a junior, Steve Dodt was an Australian Champion in the Hurdles (Australian Little Athletics Championships), bronze medalist in the 4x100m relay, finalist in the 400m at Nationals, and placed fourth in the ALAC Multi-Event. Steve Dodt also competed at the Pacific School Games. Finalist International Medalist News Performance International AthleticsNT AthleticsResults
