Nate sets his sights on National Record Canberra Running Coach, October 13, 2023October 22, 2023 FAST’s Nathaniel Halpin (Nate) has his eyes firmly set on breaking Declan Campion’s U20 100m National Record (T01 / Deaf Athletes) this season. Nate who is the Under 18 and Under 20 Men’s National Record Holder in the 200m, believes he has the speed to pip Declan’s current mark. The record has stood since December 2016 and Nate is looking towards Nationals next year in his quest to better the record. Nate has been eyeing off Declan’s 100m record and it has so far eluded him. Declan’s Australian Records are 12.59s (U16) and 12.11s (U18 and U20). In 2019, Nate ran 12.40s (U16) but with a +2.6 tail wind and 12.21s (U20) at the 2021 National Championships. With first-year at the University of Canberra behind him, Nate will be keen to focus on his acceleration and top speed over the summer university break. Nate is prepared to “do whatever it takes” at training and with the 200m record already in his name, the 100m record is beckoning him to come and break it next year.
