Peter’s Power Bowl: A Sprinter’s Breakfast for Recovery and Resilience

FAST Running - Recipe - FAST Food

At FAST Running, performance isn’t just built on the track — it starts in the kitchen. Our athletes fuel like they train: with intent, purpose, and a sprinkle of creativity. One standout recipe comes from Peter, who’s crafted a dish that’s as tasty as it is functional.

Peter’s Power Bowl

Ingredients

  • Rolled oats
  • Raw almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
  • Goji berries
  • A scoop of creatine monohydrate (the real power move)

Instructions

  1. Combine ½ to 1 cup of rolled oats with a handful of each nut and seed (about 1 tbsp per ingredient).
  2. Add 1–2 tablespoons of goji berries for natural sweetness and antioxidants.
  3. Stir in 3–5g of True Protein’s creatine monohydrate (per your supplement protocol).
  4. Serve dry as a trail mix or mix with milk, plant milk, or yogurt for a more filling meal.
  5. Optional: Soak overnight with your choice of milk to make overnight oats.

Why It’s Good for You

Peter’s Power Bowl is built on slow-release carbohydrates, healthy fats, and micronutrient-dense ingredients — ideal for an athlete’s recovery and overall energy demands.

  • Oats: Complex carbs for sustained energy and beta-glucans for heart health
  • Almonds & Walnuts: Omega-3s, Vitamin E, and plant-based protein
  • Sunflower Seeds & Pepitas: Rich in magnesium, iron, and zinc to support muscle function
  • Goji Berries: High in antioxidants and Vitamin A — a natural immune booster
  • Creatine: Supports explosive power, repeated sprint ability, and muscle recovery

When to Eat It

This bowl shines as a post-training recovery meal or as a pre-training breakfast — especially if training is mid-morning or in the afternoon. Its balance of carbs, fats, and protein supports glycogen replenishment and muscle repair.

Make It a Complete Meal

To round out Peter’s Power Bowl for sprint-specific nutrition, add a protein source and hydration:

  • Add:
    • A scoop of WPI protein or Greek yogurt (high-protein)
    • A side of fruit like banana or berries for fast-digesting carbs
    • Water or a recovery shake if taken post-training
  • Avoid immediately pairing it with high-fat milk if consuming before training, as it may slow digestion.

Sprint Fuel, Done Right

Whether it’s early morning on the hill or a heavy session at the track, Peter’s Power Bowl delivers sustained energy, key micronutrients, and the benefits of creatine — all in one easy-to-prepare meal.

At FAST Running, food is fuel — and we love seeing athletes like Peter leading the way with smart choices that support both performance and recovery.
