Building Great Athletes and Even Greater People

FAST Running - Parliament House

At FAST Running, coaching isn’t just about stopwatch splits and medal counts — it’s about shaping individuals who thrive in sport and in life. Every session we design reflects our belief in long-term athlete development. We’re committed to building athletes who are strong, skilled, resilient, and able to grow through every phase of their journey — from their first spikes to the national stage and beyond.

Grounded in Science, Delivered with Heart

We combine the latest in sports sciencebiomechanics, and training theory with something that’s harder to measure — care. Our coaches are mentors as well as technicians, committed to bringing out the best in each athlete — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

From sprint technique to strength development, we’re not interested in shortcuts. We take the time to teach proper form, reinforce technical precision, and focus on posture, rhythm, frequency, and movement efficiency. Our approach gives athletes the tools they need to improve now — and stay healthy, powerful, and fast for years to come.

Hill Sprints with a View: Training at Parliament House

On Saturday, the squad found itself sprinting up the iconic hill at Parliament House — a perfect setting for Week 6 of our General Preparation Phase. While Canberra’s political heart watched on, our athletes were working on theirs — digging deep, chasing precision, and building capacity for the season ahead.

The focus for this training phase?

  • Primary goals: Acceleration, maximum velocity, sprint mechanics, rhythm, and frequency
  • Secondary goals: Power application, reactivity, short sprint endurance (under 150m), and holding posture under fatigue

We deliberately avoid over-distance work in this period to keep neuromuscular freshness high and reduce injury risk, instead opting for high-quality, high-intensity sprinting with full intent. Sessions are structured to include variation — not just for physical adaptation, but to keep the mind sharp and the body engaged.

Developing More Than Just Speed

We believe great athletes are built, not born — and that the process takes time, patience, and belief. That’s why we coach with a long view. We’re developing strength, yes — but also resilience, focus, humility, and confidence. These traits matter just as much on the podium as they do in school, work, or life.

At FAST Running, every hill climbed, every rep completed, and every moment of feedback given is part of something bigger. We’re not just creating sprinters. We’re creating people who understand that hard work, smart training, and good character go hand in hand.
