Winner winner chicken dinner Canberra Running Coach, October 28, 2023February 7, 2024 The competition season is now well underway and the next generation of FAST athletes have not disappointed. Mathias Lill showed he’s no slouch with two new personal bests in the 60m (7.66s) and the 100m (12.02s). Mathias battled hard in his heat of the 100m finishing first and improving his PB by 0.28s, whilst his 60m PB is now 0.13s lower. Not to be outdone, Joshua Smith lowered his 100m PB by 0.03s (11.88s) in finishing third place in the second heat of the day. Team mate Daniel Nwaobi won the second heat of the 100m (11.68s) and recording his second fastest time for that distance in history. Daniel backed up for the 200m (24.40s) and finished 8th, the youngest competitor (U16) in the premier race of the day (Heat 1). Whilst all three performances were strong for so early in the competitive season, the lads are still working through some minor niggles and looking ahead to November where they’ll get more opportunities to iron out some wrinkles and blow more cobwebs away as they move towards All Schools in Perth in December. Joining the boys next week will be Nate Halpin who is looking to improve his 100m PB (12.21s) before Christmas.
