Being a step ahead Canberra Running Coach, October 28, 2023February 8, 2024 When it comes to playing at the back in Football (Soccer), it’s fair to say you need to be faster than the opposite player. Speed is therefore an essential ingredient to your package as a Footballer and other ball sports. For Canberra Premier League players Sophie Porter and Georgia Reilly, they’ve just taken their first steps to getting faster. Working with FAST, Sophie, Georgia, along with their team mates Siena and Grace, have found sprint training enjoyable as well as providing immediate benefits. With hopes to one day join the world beating Matildas, the girls know that developing their top speed and acceleration will help then follow in the footsteps of Sam Kerr, Mary Fowler or FAST’s very own Young Matilda Ava Piazza. Sessions are based on the individual needs of each athlete (player) with scaffolded exercises, load and intensity to meet their immediate and future goals. Programs utilise a variety of locations in the ACT to ensure running excellence is delivered. Today’s session involved hill sprints and the team mates said they’ve never worked so hard, yet still enjoyed the challenge and looking forward to what comes next.
