Brooklyn Montana: Building the Jump, Raising the Standard

FAST Running - Brooklyn Montana

Progress in the horizontal jumps is rarely linear. It’s built through rhythm, patience, and the ability to perform when it matters.

For Brooklyn Montana, the 2025 season has been about exactly that — turning strong foundations into national-level composure.

At the Australian All Schools Championships, Brooklyn delivered a breakthrough performance, finishing 7th in the Triple Jump with a personal best of 12.56 m. More than the distance, it was the manner of execution that stood out: improved rhythm through the phases, consistency across attempts, and confidence on the national stage.

From First Attempts to National Finalist

Brooklyn’s journey in the Triple Jump is still relatively young.

He first competed in the event at the 2024 ACT School Championships, finishing 4th with a jump of 11.04 m. Earlier that season, at Regionals, he secured qualification for ACT Champs by finishing third, also with 11.04 m.

Those performances laid the groundwork.

Twelve months later, the progression is clear:

  • 2024: 4th best in the ACT
  • 2025: 8th best in Australia

That leap hasn’t come from chasing distance alone — it’s come from learning how to jump well, repeatedly, under pressure.

Closing in on History

Brooklyn is now approaching significant benchmarks within Ginninderra Athletics Club history.

He sits just 14 cm short of the U17 Club Record of 12.70 m, set by Rowan Vergano in the 2011–12 season — a record Brooklyn has until the end of April 2026 to claim.

Beyond that, he is also only 30 cm shy of the overall Ginninderra Athletics Club Triple Jump record of 12.99 m, set by Mitch Anderson in 2018.

Importantly, Brooklyn still has another full year as an U18 athlete, giving him both time and opportunity to continue building toward those marks.

Looking further ahead, the ACT Triple Jump record of 14.66 m, set by John Howell in 1969, stands as a long-term stretch target — ambitious, but fitting for an athlete with Brooklyn’s profile.

A Multi-Sport Athlete With Upside

Brooklyn is a multi-sport athlete, balancing his athletics commitments with football (soccer) through the winter months. That background shows in his coordination, spatial awareness, and adaptability — qualities that translate directly to the demands of the Triple Jump.

Within the FAST environment, the focus has been on:

  • Developing consistent approach rhythm
  • Improving phase balance and posture
  • Managing load and progression safely

The result is an athlete who is no longer just capable of a good jump — but capable of delivering when it counts.

The Next Phase

Brooklyn Montana’s story isn’t about a single performance or a single record.

It’s about momentum.

From ACT finalist to national contender, he is steadily raising his standard — and with time, patience, and continued development, his best jumps are still ahead of him.

At FAST Running, this is what long-term athlete development looks like.

And for Brooklyn, the runway is wide open.
