The F in FAST is for Fun Canberra Running Coach, January 13, 2024January 13, 2024 A humid and warm day out at Stromlo Forest Park and the squad took it all in good humour. There were plenty of smiles all round as well as a few competitive moments of course. The session was modified to adjust to the conditions which suited Mathias, Grace, Vish and Nic who all competed on Friday night at Summer Series. A focus on running form during the drills and then the first two steps from the start were the key session objectives. FAST Running also got behind the triathletes competing in the AGPT Super Sprint Grand Prix – where Australia’s best youth, juniors, U23 and elite athletes race in a super sprint format across multiple triathlon distances. There was plenty of cheering and support for every competitor as FAST appreciated the difficult conditions Australia’s fastest triathletes were enduring at Stromlo too. There was one moment during the Grand Prix where Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt, had to provide assistance to a South Australian runner who had gotten a little off-course, and with some quick reaction (of course) and a loud voice, she didn’t loose too much from her overall placing. FAST Running has a busy month ahead in the initial competition phase of training. Everyone is super excited to be finally racing, and hoping to chase PBs and make qualifiers for Nationals if they are lucky enough.
