New year, new beginnings Canberra Sprint Coach, January 19, 2024February 7, 2024 The end of 2023 was not overly kind on FAST Sprinter Joshua Smith. A persistent bone bruise right on the patella resulted in knee swelling and hip pain. The injury created havoc on his 2023 All Schools campaign . The U15 Sprinter from Woden Athletics is keen to put that to bed now and focus on a better 2024. With Australian Junior Championship qualifying his new aim, the ACT Championships in February is his immediate focus. Looking forward. Josh has been working on his strength and conditioning, enjoying regular core exercises and strengthening exercises in the gym. On the track, he’s been managing his load well and has started to return to full speed. Josh has appreciated going through videos of his starts and identifying areas to focus on in the lead up to the championships. Already won a bronze medal at Nationals, Josh is hoping to find his best form early and finish the season with a bright end. FAST Track ProfileSprintingWoden Athletics
