With an emphasis on reaction time and explosive power, the clinic provided participants with cutting-edge drills and techniques to sharpen their performance on the track and field. Led by High-Performance Coach Steve Dodt, supported by the dynamic trio Vishaal Vijayakumar, Mathias Lal and Daniel Nwaobi from the FAST Kids team, the coaching lineup ensured that every athlete was challenged and inspired. The sessions included reaction-based drills designed to improve response time, as well as explosive power exercises targeting starts, acceleration, and bursts of speed critical to sprinting success. Highlights of the day included reaction cone drills, plyometric bounding, and short sprint relays, where athletes were encouraged to react quickly and explode with power. The coaches’ emphasis on technique and precision provided a perfect balance between pushing limits and refining skills. Steve Dodt’s expert insights on explosive starts and Mathias and Daniel’s infectious energy kept the athletes engaged and striving for their best. North Curtin Oval proved to be a prime location for the clinic, offering a spacious and versatile environment for these high-intensity sessions. Athletes had the opportunity to focus fully on their training, supported by the fantastic facilities and the supportive coaching environment. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with one athlete sharing, “I learned how to react faster and feel more powerful in my sprints. It was amazing to see my improvement in just one day!” A parent commented, “The focus on reaction and power was perfect for our child’s development.
