Papua New Guinean sprinter Rose Catejan is on a mission. Training under Coach Steve at FAST Running in Canberra, Rose is determined to make her mark and earn a place on the PNG team for the Pacific Mini Games.
At the Capital Athletics Summer Series Meet on 1 March 2025, a World Athletics Permit Meet, Rose delivered a standout performance, setting a new personal best of 13.14s in the Open Women’s 100m. With verified race times and strict wind readings, the meet provided a high-performance stage for Rose to showcase her progress.
But the challenge doesn’t stop there. Living and training in Australia while studying at the University of Canberra, Rose knows she must train even harder to gain recognition back home. Competing virtually against PNG’s top female sprinters, including Susan Pokana, Matilda Tommy, Salome Yaling, Denlyne Siliwen, Joy Tieba, Edna Boafob, Talitha Jinkia, and Grace Navara, Rose has now positioned herself among the top four women in PNG.
With every race, every training session, and every fraction of a second shaved off her time, Rose is proving that distance is no barrier to determination. The road to the Pacific Mini Games is tough, but Rose Catejan is ready for the challenge.
