Fog, Rain, and Running Excellence

FAST Running - Lake Burley Griffin training

The fog rolled in low. The rain tapped steadily on jackets. The grass was slick and cold beneath every footstrike.

Last Saturday, while most of Canberra stayed tucked indoors, the committed athletes of FAST Running met at the grassy slopes of Regatta Point, right beside the mirror-like waters of Lake Burley Griffin. Conditions were far from ideal — but perfect for forging resilience.

What greeted the squad was not just the weather, but an opportunity: a chance to embrace adversity and grow stronger together. And they did just that.

No one trained alone. No one turned back. The squad pushed through tempo hill reps, soaked and smiling, spurred on by the shared understanding that growth doesn’t happen in comfort — it happens in moments like these.

“Training in places like this is a privilege,” said Head Coach Steve Dodt. “The beauty of Canberra is that even when it challenges you with cold or rain, it gives you these incredible backdrops and open spaces. That’s part of the experience — and part of what binds our team together.”

At FAST Running, we know that running excellence isn’t just about fast times. It’s about character, commitment, and showing up — even when it’s tough. Especially when it’s tough.

Our squad doesn’t just train. We lift each other, back each other, and run for each other. The mate-ship is real, and it’s what turns an ordinary training session into something unforgettable.

So here’s to the squad who turned a foggy winter morning into a triumph of will — and looked good doing it.

FAST Running. Cold doesn’t slow us. Rain doesn’t stop us. We thrive. Together.
