The Power of a Milestone

FAST Running - Training Sessions

At FAST Running, we often talk about Running Excellence.

For some athletes, that means representing Australia.

For others, it means reaching a National Final.

And for many, it means chasing a milestone they have never achieved before.

Sub-13.

Sub-12.

Sub-11.

These numbers are not just times.

They are markers along a journey.

They provide direction, purpose, and something tangible to work towards when the finish line may still be months or years away.

Nobody starts by aiming for their personal best.

They start by aiming for the next step.

Why Milestones Matter

The best goals are challenging enough to inspire effort, but achievable enough to remain believable.

A milestone creates focus.

It transforms:
“I want to get faster”

into

“I want to break 13 seconds.”

Suddenly training has purpose.

Every session becomes connected to something bigger.

The Club Is Not The Prize

At FAST Running, joining a milestone club is never about proving you are better than somebody else.

It is about proving something to yourself.

The athlete who breaks 13 seconds after three years of persistence has achieved something remarkable.

The athlete who breaks 12 seconds has achieved something remarkable.

The athlete who breaks 11 seconds has achieved something remarkable.

Different journeys.

Different starting points.

Same achievement.

Like Climbing a Mountain

Nobody compares an Everest climber to the thousands who came before them.

The achievement remains significant because of the journey required to get there.

Sprint milestones are similar.

When an athlete reaches a level they have never reached before, they join a group of athletes who understand exactly what that journey required.

Not because they are better than everyone else.

Because they share a common experience.

Running Excellence Together

One of the unique aspects of FAST Running is that athletes already exist within each of these milestone groups.

Some have broken 13 seconds.

Some have broken 12 seconds.

Some have broken 11 seconds.

The exciting part is not who is already there.

The exciting part is who might be next.

Because every season, another athlete takes a step closer.

Another athlete sets a new goal.

Another athlete discovers what they are capable of.

And another athlete joins a community of runners who once stood exactly where they are standing now.
