FAST Kids Take Flight: Off-Season Hurdle Sessions with Coach Steve

While most are winding down for winter, some of Canberra’s most dedicated FAST Kids are stepping up—literally—over the hurdles.

Every Saturday morning, our youngest athletes are hitting the track for specialised off-season hurdle sessions led by High Performance Coach Steve Dodt. These sessions aren’t just about keeping active—they’re about building technique, confidence, and athletic foundations that will carry through to next season and beyond.

For many, it’s their first real taste of focused hurdling—and they’re loving it.

Coach Steve brings years of elite coaching experience and a big heart for junior development, creating a space where young athletes can learn, laugh, and improve. From rhythm drills to technical cues, each session offers the perfect mix of challenge and encouragement.

These off-season sessions also provide something equally important: consistency. While school carnivals and competitions take a break, FAST Kids are still moving, growing, and staying connected to the sport they love.

Most importantly, the vibe is pure FAST—supportive, energetic, and filled with teammates who cheer each other on at every rep.

Whether they’re dreaming of making school teams, chasing PBs, or just discovering the joy of movement, our FAST Kids are laying down the kind of groundwork that champions are made of.

Hurdles. High-fives. And the best kind of off-season hustle.
That’s what Saturdays look like at FAST.
