FAST Running is proud to announce that Coach Steve Dodt has been selected as a priority candidate for the Mental Performance in Competition (MPC) Coach Development Program at the University of Queensland. The World Athletics High Performance Coach course is taking place from 14 to 19 July in Brisbane, this program is an exclusive opportunity designed to help top-level coaches develop the skills needed to guide athletes in performing under high-pressure situations.
What is the MPC Program?
This elite training program, developed by the University of Queensland in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Sport, focuses on enhancing a coach’s ability to prepare athletes for competition. It covers key areas such as:
- Helping athletes perform under pressure
- Creating a training environment that simulates competition stress
- Developing mental resilience and focus in both coaches and athletes
The program is research-based and evidence-driven, ensuring that coaches gain practical strategies to support their athletes’ mental preparation for big races and championships.
Why This Matters for FAST Running
Having Coach Steve selected for this program is a huge win for FAST Running and its athletes. Mental strength and focus are just as important as physical training when it comes to sprinting success. With Steve gaining access to cutting-edge coaching methods, FAST Running athletes will directly benefit from world-class strategies that can give them the mental edge in competition.
What this means for our members: ✅ Better support in handling race-day nerves ✅ Stronger mental strategies for training and competition ✅ Techniques to stay focused and perform under pressure ✅ An advantage over competitors who lack mental performance coaching
