At FAST Running, behind every medal, personal best, or breakthrough moment is a team of coaches dedicated to getting the details right — every session, every rep, every athlete.
Recently, Coaches Ahmed, Marijke, and Steve came together to map out the next strength and mobility block for the squad, leading into the ACT School Sport Championships in September. This strategic planning session was more than just putting pen to paper — it was about aligning science, coaching insight, and the unique needs of every athlete in our squad.
“We don’t leave progress to chance,” said Head Coach Steve Dodt. “Everything is purposeful — every progression, every loading decision, every mobility focus has a role to play in getting our athletes race-ready.”
What’s Ahead in This Phase:
As the squad builds toward peak condition for championship season, athletes can expect a block designed to elevate movement quality, build sprint-specific strength, and enhance durability under load.
Highlights include:
- Mobility Meets Mechanics: Drills to improve hip range, ankle resilience, and shoulder mobility — all essential for sprint posture and arm drive.
- Power from the Ground Up: Sprint-specific strength sessions targeting reactive strength, core stability, and triple extension.
- Pelvic Control & Core Resilience: A continued focus on anti-rotation and anti-flexion strength, linking upper and lower body for efficient force transfer.
- Block Progressions: Carefully tiered sessions that build intensity over time without compromising form or function.
Whether athletes are sprinting 100m, hurdling, or competing in middle distance, this phase supports long-term development and immediate performance.
Because at FAST Running, it’s not just about working hard — it’s about working smart, together.
Stay tuned, stay sharp — and let’s build towards September, one strong rep at a time.
