Running Over Parliament (Barefoot!)

FAST Running - Parliament House

While most people dream of “running for Parliament,” at FAST Running we like to think bigger — we run over Parliament.

This weekend, our squad took to the sweeping lawns of Parliament House for a special barefoot session. Shoes off, socks off — just pure contact between foot and turf. It might sound unconventional, but a little running without shoes is more than just a novelty. Barefoot running can help improve foot strength, ankle stability, and running mechanics — all while reminding us what it’s like to truly feel the ground beneath us.

The setting couldn’t have been better. Under Canberra’s big wintery sky, we turned the iconic backdrop into our training ground, mixing sprints, drills, and laughter. Without the cushion of shoes, every step was a lesson in precision, balance, and connection — the kind of micro-adjustments that make a difference when performance matters.

At FAST Running, we know speed isn’t just for sprinters. It powers hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, and yes — even a barefoot dash over the symbolic heart of Australian democracy. And just like in Parliament, every step counts.

If you’re looking for a squad that knows how to blend performance science, smart training, and a little fun, come and join us. Shoes optional.
