Every athlete starts somewhere.
For Don Emeth Nathanial Samarakoon, that beginning is taking shape inside FAST Accelerate.
The younger brother of FAST athlete Seth, Don has recently begun finding his feet within the program — exploring both sprinting and long jump in a supportive development environment.
Learning Through Movement
At this stage, the focus is simple:
- movement quality
- confidence
- enjoyment
- exposure to different athletic skills
Sessions combine sprint drills, jumping activities, coordination work, and controlled running to help young athletes build a broad athletic foundation.
There is no pressure to specialise early.
The goal is development.
Sprinting and Jumping Together
One of the strengths of the FAST environment is the crossover between events.
Long jump helps develop:
- coordination
- stiffness
- posture at speed
- take-off awareness
Sprinting reinforces:
- rhythm
- projection
- acceleration mechanics
Together, they help athletes become more complete movers.
Growing in Confidence
Like many younger athletes, some of the biggest changes are not just physical.
Confidence grows through:
- trying new skills
- learning within a group
- building familiarity with training
This is where long-term development begins.
A Shared FAST Environment
Having family already within the program helps create familiarity, but every athlete still builds their own journey.
And for Don, that journey is only beginning.
At FAST Running, not every story starts with results.
Some begin with curiosity, movement, and learning to enjoy the process.
And those stories matter too.
