Summer Series Sparks Speed at Woden – 8 November 2025
The latest Capital Athletics Summer Series meet at Woden Park saw our FAST athletes bring energy, determination, and some strong early-season results across multiple events — from sprints to jumps and even hammer throw.
Sprint Power on Display
In the 60m, Sam Ainsworth exploded from the blocks to record 8.84s, continuing his consistent progression in the short sprints. Teammate Thivain Ariyadasa clocked 9.36s, showing solid form as he continues refining his transition phase, while Anastasia Peters produced one of the quickest times of the round with 8.82s. Nelly Ganesalingam, fresh off her All Schools preparation, ran 9.53s, demonstrating composure and technical rhythm in her opener.
Over 100m, Lewin Ainsworth impressed with 12.12s, showcasing maturity well beyond his years in his stride pattern and acceleration. Julien Johnson wasn’t far behind with a swift 12.82s, adding another strong sprint to his growing resume. Sam backed up from the 60m for a tidy 14.03s, with Thivain (14.84s), Anastasia (14.13s), and Nelly (15.02s) all showing excellent consistency across both sprint distances.
Strength and Skill Across Events
In the 300m non-standard event, Julien Johnson turned heads again with 41.58s, reinforcing his versatility as a developing middle-sprint athlete.
Meanwhile, in the field, Anastasia Peters continued her fine form with a 4.42m leap in the Long Jump (wind-assisted), proving her explosive potential is translating well between the runway and the track. Thivain Ariyadasa added a personal best-style performance of 4.04m, a strong indicator that his sprinting is carrying over into horizontal power.
Not to be outdone, Lewin Ainsworth continued his multi-event dominance, taking the win in the Hammer Throw (4kg)with a best of 37.15m, marking another step forward in his quest for all-round athletic development.
