Unprecedented win sets Athletics history in the ACT Canberra Sprint Coach, March 18, 2024March 18, 2024 Twelve year old Nick Porter has made history becoming the first of his age to claim both the ACT Under 13 and Under 14 100m sprint titles in the same season. Nick who races for Ginninderra Athletics Club, in the unified Capital Athletics Championships, has shown he’s unafraid to be the first in anything he tries this season. Working with Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt, Nick has increased his training load since he returned from his international football tournament in Fiji last November. The extra training has really paid dividends with Personal Best in the 100m and 200m this season, selection in the ACT Team for the Australian Athletics Championships, and now a qualifying performance for the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Adelaide. Nick now sits alongside his FAST Running compatriots Daniel Nwaboi, Austin Tetteh and Jeremy Maranan, who have also won the ACT State U13 and U14 Championships (in different years). Nick is hoping to emulate their past performances by going onto a National Championship final and winning a medal of his own. FAST Running has shown over the past 30 years it can develop and provide junior athletes with the opportunity to compete at the highest levels.
