Beating “Ken” Canberra Sprint Coach, December 5, 2023February 7, 2024 Improvement is a process and when it involves yourself, self realisation that you have improved doesn’t come until you’ve overcome an obstacle. You find it difficult to notice your improvement until that moment. For Sophie, her moment came in a recent friendly against the male team at training. Playing opposite an older male opponent, Ken, Sophie not only won the ball consistently but outran Ken on the wing. Sophie’s sprint training over the soccer off-season has bought her success. Her improved acceleration and her speed endurance mean she can now compete against even the men. Sophie’s confidence is now at an all time high and she is looking forward to continuing to improve her sprinting. The benefits are real and can be seen, especially by Sophie and “Ken”. The West Canberra Wanderers Football Club, formerly Woden Weston FC, competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football. Having been selected for the Premier League competition this winter, Sophie will be riding high and running FAST.
