FAST Performance athlete, Tearia Teaiwa Mortimer, has taken her first hurdles session with Canberra Running Coach, Steve Dodt. Tearia who placed 3rd in the Shot put and 5th in the 100m at the recent ACT Secondary Schools Athletics Championships is also an ACT high performance basketball player. Tearia (Tay) continues to demonstrate how multi talented she is as an athlete.
Tearia is looking to progress her 200m flat speed over the hurdles this summer with a view to compete at Junior Nationals in 2025. In her first hurdles session she was shown the fundamental drills and taken through a hurdling progression before she was unleashed onto the track for practice over two hurdles.
Tearia’s athleticism and mobility is impressive. She has already shown a natural flair for hurdling and she hopes to join team mate Tom Madigan on the flight to Perth in April competing in the 200m hurdles.
