From Grounded to Goal-Getter Canberra Running Coach, December 30, 2024December 30, 2024 Marijke’s Comeback Six months ago, FAST Running athlete Marijke Welvaert faced one of the toughest challenges of her athletic journey. A severe foot injury resulted in tendon and bone damage that required surgery to repair. With a plate, two screws, and a wire holding her foot together, Marijke’s path to recovery seemed daunting. Forced into a moon boot with strict no-weight-bearing restrictions, this active heptathlete’s future in sport looked uncertain. But Marijke’s story is not one of defeat—it’s one of determination. This month, after months of rest and patience, the hardware was removed, marking the beginning of a new chapter. With the support of FAST Running and Clinic 88, Marijke has embarked on a structured rehabilitation program to rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence. What makes Marijke’s journey remarkable is her resilience and refusal to give up. The path back to running is not a sprint; it’s a carefully planned journey. Her recovery is a shining example of what can be achieved with the right mindset, the right support, and a team dedicated to helping athletes succeed. At FAST Running, we pride ourselves on fostering a community where no athlete journeys alone. Through partnerships with experts like Clinic 88, we offer access to the best recovery tools, advice, and treatment to help athletes like Marijke find their way back. From personalized rehab plans to motivational camaraderie, the FAST community ensures that every athlete feels supported, no matter how tough the road ahead. Marijke’s story reminds us all: setbacks are not the end—they’re the start of a comeback. With determination, professional guidance, and a team cheering you on, the seemingly impossible becomes possible.
