In April, Tearia Teaiwa Mortimer lined up at the Australian Athletics Championships in Perth, representing herself, her family, and her squad in the 100m Hurdles. Competing against the best athletes in the nation, she delivered a strong performance that showcased not only her talent but her drive to grow at the elite level.
Fast forward to July, and Tearia is once again stepping onto a national stage—only this time, it’s across the Pacific and on the basketball court.
Selected as part of the Complete Athlete Pathway team, Tearia is heading to the United States for a high-stakes basketball tour aimed at impressing college coaches and earning her place in the world of NCAA sport. She’ll be competing in front of scouts and recruiters, first in games against the Tennessee Hurricanes and Team Pride at the Run 4 Roses Basketball Tournament on 10 July in Louisville, before joining hundreds of athletes at the world-renowned Nike Tournament of Champions in Chicago from July 18–21, 2025.
