The True Spirit of FAST: More Than a Christmas Story

FAST Running - Merry Christmas

Christmas is often spoken about as a season of giving.

At FAST Running, giving isn’t seasonal — it’s foundational.

It’s embedded in how we train, how we coach, how we support one another, and how we show up as a community every week of the year.

A Community Before a Squad

FAST Running is more than a group of athletes sharing a track. It’s a community built on trust, care, and shared purpose — where no one is left behind and no one trains alone.

We see it in:

  • Athletes staying back to support teammates
  • Coaches adapting sessions so everyone can participate
  • Families volunteering time, energy, and belief
  • Older athletes mentoring younger ones without being asked

These moments don’t make headlines, but they define who we are.

Giving Is a Value, Not a Moment

Recently, the squad was surprised with the unboxing of eight new professional starting blocks at Parliament House — a simple moment, captured in photos, but loaded with meaning.

Not because of the equipment itself.

But because of what it represents.

At FAST, no athlete should ever be told they can’t do their session due to a lack of resources. Access matters. Opportunity matters. Belonging matters.

Those blocks weren’t a gift for one athlete or one group — they were an investment in everyone.

Because giving, at FAST, isn’t about recognition.
It’s about removing barriers.

Running Excellence, Human First

Our motto is Running Excellence — but excellence at FAST is never measured by times alone.

It’s measured by:

  • How we care for athletes across all disciplines
  • How we support families through the highs and lows
  • How we prioritise people over outcomes
  • How we stay connected, even when the season gets hard

This is what ties us together — not just at Christmas, but every week we step onto the track.

Gratitude as the Year Closes

As the year comes to an end, we’re grateful for:

  • The athletes who trust us with their journey
  • The families who believe in what FAST stands for
  • The coaches and volunteers who give endlessly
  • The wider community that supports our vision

Christmas reminds us to pause — but it also reminds us why we do what we do.

Because when a community gives all year round, Christmas becomes a reflection — not a requirement.

From all of us at FAST Running, thank you for being part of this journey.

Here’s to connection, care, and continuing to build something meaningful — together.
