Recognising More Than Results

FAST Running - FAST Recognition Pins

At FAST Running, performance matters.

But performance is not the only thing worth recognising.

This season, FAST introduced its first official recognition pins — designed to acknowledge contribution, commitment, leadership, and representation within the squad.

Not simply outcomes.

But what sits behind them.

More Than a Pin

The FAST recognition pins are small in size, but significant in meaning.

They represent:

  • commitment over time
  • contribution to the squad
  • leadership within the environment
  • representing FAST at the national level
  • helping build the culture others now step into

Because strong programs are not built by one athlete or one coach.

They are built collectively.

Service Recognition

Brendan Pratt

Some athletes become part of the fabric of a squad.

Brendan Pratt was recognised for his long-term commitment and contribution to FAST Running over many years.

As a Masters athlete, Brendan’s pathway has looked different from many younger athletes within the squad. National campaigns are not always the priority.

But consistency, presence, and commitment still matter.

Service recognition exists to acknowledge exactly that.

The athletes who continue showing up, contributing to the environment, and helping strengthen the culture around them.

Coach Recognition

Matt van der Lugt & Marijke Welvaert

Coaching impact is not always visible on a results sheet.

Much of it happens quietly:

  • supporting athletes
  • reinforcing standards
  • guiding development
  • helping shape the daily environment of the squad

Matt van der Lugt and Marijke Welvaert were recognised for their ongoing contribution to FAST Running and the athletes within it.

Both continue to play important roles in building the culture, structure, and athlete experience across the program.

Nationals Recognition

Daniel Nwaobi & Lewin Ainsworth

Representing FAST Running at National Championships carries meaning.

It reflects months — and often years — of consistent work, progression, and commitment.

Daniel Nwaobi and Lewin Ainsworth were recognised for representing FAST on the national stage and continuing to raise standards within the squad environment.

Their performances matter.

But equally important is the example they set for younger athletes now following behind them.

Nationals & Coach Recognition

Nate Halpin

Nate Halpin received recognition both as a national representative and for his role within coaching.

As both a para-athlete and para-coach, Nate represents an important part of what FAST Running aims to build:

  • inclusion
  • leadership
  • contribution beyond individual performance

His recognition reflects not only what he achieves personally, but also the impact he has on others within the squad.

Building a Culture That Lasts

The FAST recognition pins are not participation awards.

They are designed to acknowledge athletes and coaches who contribute meaningfully to the environment and standards of the squad.

Some through performance.
Some through leadership.
Some through years of commitment.

All through contribution.

At FAST Running, culture is built by people.

The recognition pins simply help acknowledge those helping shape it.
