FAST Running at the 2026 Australian Little Athletics Championships

FAST Running - ALAC 2026

The Australian Little Athletics Championships 2026 wrapped up today in Brisbane, bringing together the next generation of athletes from across the country in a celebration of performance, resilience, and future potential.

For FAST Running, this year’s Championships weren’t just about results — they were about growth, exposure to national competition, and continuing to build athletes who are ready for their moment when it comes.

Building Experience on the National Stage

Competing at ALAC is a milestone. It’s where athletes step into a national arena, represent their state, and begin to understand what high-level competition demands — physically, technically, and mentally.

Our athletes did exactly that.

FAST Athlete Performances

Mikeire Hei Hei

A standout Championships with a breakthrough performance:

  • 100m – 4th (PB 11.94s)
  • Long Jump – 9th (4.81m)
  • Triple Jump – 5th (11.04m)

Mikeire showed what happens when preparation meets opportunity. A new personal best on the national stage and pushing into top-five territory — this is what progression looks like.

Tindra Helgstedt

One of the most versatile athletes across the Championships:

  • 80mH – 20th (15.75s)
  • 1500m Walk – 13th (8:28.38)
  • Discus – 16th (26.77m)
  • Javelin – 18th (21.68m)
  • Triple Jump – 20th (8.72m)

Tindra embraced the full experience of ALAC — multiple events, multiple challenges. This is exactly how long-term athletes are built.

Sam Ainsworth (ACT Team Captain)

Leadership and performance combined:

  • 80mH – 17th (PB 15.09s)
  • 100m – 17th (14.16s)
  • 200m – 15th (28.61s)
  • 200mH – 17th (PB 30.93s)

Two personal bests at a national championships, while leading the ACT team — that’s impact. Sam continues to set the standard for what it means to represent both team and program.

Bree Madigan Wong (NSW)

A strong performance on the national stage:

  • 200mH – 5th (PB 29.01s)

Top five in Australia and a personal best — Bree continues to show she belongs at this level.

More Than Results

What we saw this week goes beyond times, distances, and placings.

We saw:

  • Athletes learning how to compete
  • Athletes adapting to pressure
  • Athletes discovering what “national level” really feels like

And most importantly — athletes who now understand what it will take to come back stronger.

The FAST Perspective

Not every athlete walks away with a medal.

But every athlete walks away with something valuable — if they’re paying attention.

At FAST Running, we don’t rush the process.

We build it.

These Championships are a checkpoint, not the destination.

For some, this was a breakthrough.

For others, it’s the beginning of a longer journey.

Either way — the direction is clear.

What Comes Next

The work doesn’t stop here.

We return to training with:

  • Better data
  • Greater clarity
  • Higher standards

Because the goal isn’t just to attend national championships.

It’s to arrive ready.
