The 2025 Australian Little Athletics Championships in Adelaide were a true showcase of the talent, resilience, and determination of our FAST Running athletes. Every single athlete made a national final — an incredible achievement that marked a first for each of them at this level. Their placings also represented their best performances to date at a national championship, with many overcoming significant hurdles just to make it to the start line.
We are especially proud to celebrate Ivy (Ivana-Rose Lawson), who claimed her first ever national medal, winning bronze as part of the ACT’s U14 Girls Swedish Medley Relay team.
For Ivy, Seth (Seth Herschelle Samarakoon), and Isi (Isabel Winikerei), Adelaide was their first experience competing at a national championships — a major milestone in their athletic careers. Both Seth and Isi faced serious injury setbacks in the lead-up to the event. Seth was in a moon boot until just two weeks before the competition, and Isi underwent surgery after the Capital Athletics Underage Championships in February. Despite these challenges, they showed extraordinary grit to not only compete, but to thrive.
Adding to the challenge, several of our athletes were competing in events they had never contested in a major competition before:
- Tom Madigan tackled the 300m hurdles for the first time, setting a new ACT record with a brilliant fifth-place finish.
- Seth debuted in the Triple Jump and delivered a personal best.
- Isi took on both hurdle events for the first time.
- Lewin Ainsworth hadn’t competed in the 800m all season — and still delivered a massive personal best.
Their courage, teamwork, and fierce determination led to outstanding performances:
