Knowing where to begin Canberra Sprint Coach, June 6, 2024August 29, 2024 One of the biggest hurdles to running faster is knowing where to begin. Recently Isabel Winikerei joined FAST Running on the back of her participation in the Accelerate: School Holiday Clinic. Accelerate is ideal for any child from 6 to 18 years looking to improve their running action and speed. Clinics provide the essential training in warming up, acceleration, agility, reaction time, and maximum speed development. The skills learned are transferred easily to every sport where running fast is required. Isi’s journey prior to FAST Running involved training with family friends and working with a Strength & Conditioning Coach. The targeted and structured training program provided by Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt, has impressed Isi and the welcoming nature of the squad as helped her transition as she has finally found her running family with FAST. Having a team around you with the experience and patience to work at your pace has made a huge difference for Isabel. Isi has already qualified for the Cross Country Regionals and hopes to have an enjoyable School Track and Field Carnival this month too. Having recently learnt to run in spikes and perform the crouch start, Isabel’s biggest dilemma will be determining her focus for the year, with the short sprints and the middle distance events pulling her simultaneously in both directions. The best news is that Isi is in the right hands to mentor and guide her through her athletics journey to the next level and she has the support of every member of FAST Females behind her the whole way!
