School record smashed Canberra Sprint Coach, March 14, 2024March 14, 2024 FAST Females 200-400m dynamo, Grace York, has recently competed in the Canberra Girls Grammar School Athletics Carnival. Grace enjoyed comfortable wins in both the 200m and the 400m, but it was her 200m that everyone has been talking about. Grace went into the carnival having not competed over the shorter 200m since before her horrific injury 18 months ago. Now with 6-months of speed and strength training behind her, Grace broke not only her own Personal Best but also the School Record in stopping the clock in 27.02s. The new record time would have been good enough for the silver medal (U17G) at the recent Capital Athletics (ACT) Junior Track and Field Championships. The multi-sport talented Grace, will now focus on football over the winter before she begins her preparations for a challenge on the All Schools Championships at the end of 2024.
