At FAST Running, we believe that success starts in the mind. That’s why, in the final days before the Capital Athletics U9-U18 ACT Track and Field Championships, our athletes took part in a special visualisation session with Coach Steve Dodt at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)—the very venue where they’ll be competing this weekend.
This session wasn’t just about picturing the race. It was about feeling every movement, stepping onto the track with confidence, and mentally preparing for peak performance. Athletes of all ages—from FAST Kids to FAST Performance—engaged, collaborated, and supported each other, reinforcing the strong sense of camaraderie that sets FAST Running apart.
Why Does Visualisation Matter?
For young athletes, mental preparation is just as crucial as physical training. Studies show that visualising successcan:
✅ Reduce nerves by creating familiarity with the competition environment
✅ Enhance focus and sharpen race execution
✅ Improve confidence by reinforcing positive expectations
✅ Strengthen muscle memory, making good technique second nature
Going Beyond the Track
At FAST Running, we go above and beyond to equip our athletes with all the tools for success. From elite coaching to strength and mobility training, race strategy, and now mental preparation, we ensure that every athlete—no matter their age or level—steps onto the track feeling ready to shine.
For parents looking to give their child the best support in their running journey, FAST Running isn’t just about training—it’s about unlocking potential.
Good luck to all our athletes competing this weekend! You’ve done the work. Now go out there and make it happen!
