At FAST Running, we know that success isn’t just measured in medals — it’s found in growth, resilience, and the quiet determination to keep showing up. For Kanishka Manikandan, her journey with FAST began in November 2023 through our FAST for Sport program — a space designed to help young athletes build agility, speed, and confidence to shine in their chosen sport.
Kanishka came to us already performing at a high level in cricket, and since then, she’s continued to grow — not just as an athlete, but as a leader. In December 2024, she proudly represented the ACT at the Australian National School Sport Cricket Series in Adelaide, where she opened the series with scores of 17 and 29 runs, held strong at the crease for nearly 20 overs, and was even selected as a team captain for several matches. Her passion, discipline, and calm presence under pressure were clear for all to see.
Like all athletes, she faced her share of challenges — from battling knee pain attributed to growth, to a few quieter matches with the bat. But rather than backing away, Kanishka leaned in. She resumed Sunday FAST sessions with energy and maturity beyond her years and sought out extra training to improve her agility and movement on the field. That willingness to work on the tough stuff is what sets her apart.
The results speak for themselves. This season, Kanishka earned a string of awards celebrating her cricket journey:
- 🏏 Batting Award – State 3 Girls Gold
- 🏆 Coach’s Award – Stage 2, Division 2 Sixers
- 🎯 500 Runs Club Award
All while balancing school, sport, leadership, and life.
Kanishka’s story is proof that FAST Running isn’t just about medals or sprints — it’s about supporting athletes at every level, helping them overcome setbacks, and building confidence that carries into every corner of their lives.
She’s still just getting started — and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
