Performance on Pause, Fun Full Throttle

FAST Running - Day trip

In a refreshing detour from spikes and stopwatch splits, the FAST Running squad swapped the track for the slopes with a day trip to the snow – and what a day it was! Greeted by what’s been hailed as the best start to the ski season in over a decade, the mountains delivered a powder-perfect playground for a squad built on speed but ready for snowball strategy.

For once, performance wasn’t the objective – pure enjoyment was the game plan. And enjoy it we did! From snow angels with artistic flair, slightly lopsided snowmen that looked suspiciously like some of our relay baton exchanges, to spontaneous toboggan races (some more graceful than others), the day was full of laughter, friendly mischief, and moments that reminded us why we train so hard together.

There was even a make-your-own ice cream moment – courtesy of some very creative use of snow and snacks – followed by a self-catered outdoor café setup that warmed the hands and hearts. The air might’ve been frosty, but the vibe was nothing short of toasty.

It wasn’t about drills or data – it was about bonding, fresh air, and taking in the incredible beauty that’s right on Canberra’s doorstep. These are the days that strengthen the FAST Running squad beyond the stopwatch – because excellence isn’t just built in reps, but in moments shared.
