Steve Dodt: Sprinting and Running Coach Canberra Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt, is the award winning and innovative thinker behind Canberra’s most successful and enduring athletics programs. FAST was established in 1995 and it is Canberra’s longest running sprints and hurdles training group. Steve Dodt is a selfless individual who provides leadership, support, and direction through his commitment to athletes and the athletics community of the ACT. In 2016 he was the inaugural recipient of Outstanding Service to Sport by the ACT Minister for Sport. Steve makes a significant and positive difference to the sporting lives of many families and athletes in Canberra. Steve’s innovative ideas and on the ground hard work has seen hundreds of children, young adults, and others involved in athletics nurtured, supported, encouraged and provided with opportunities to grow, develop, learn and shine. Steve’s commitment to leadership, innovation and improvement of athletics in the ACT is unsurpassed. The Governor-General of Australia awarded Steve Dodt a Community for Children Award for his outstanding contribution to children/young people in the community. Steve Dodt is also a Life Member of Ginninderra Athletics and the German Australian Parents Association. As a sprints, hurdles, jumps, and running Coach, Steve channels only the best of his energies into FAST. The training group has collectively produced the most National Finalists and Medalists of any Canberra Athletics Squad. As a senior athlete Steve Dodt won two individual international bronze medals (400mH and Long Jump) at the 1993 and 1995 Arafura Games respectively, Gold (400mH) at the 1993 South Australian Athletics Championships, and many Gold medals at both the Northern Territory Athletics Championships, the ACT Athletics Championships, and the NSW Masters. Before Coaching, Steve Dodt was an Australian Champion in the Hurdles (Australian Little Athletics Championships), bronze medalist in the 4x100m relay, finalist in the 400m at Nationals, and placed fourth in the ALAC Multi-Event.
