Fuelling FAST Runners Canberra Sprint Coach, November 22, 2024November 22, 2024 Nutrition for Speed, Recovery, and Excellence At FAST Running, we know one thing for sure: better nutrition means better sprinting. That’s why we’ve launched a new campaign focused on the role of nutrition in unlocking peak performance for our athletes. Designed with teen sprinters in mind, this campaign isn’t about complicated diets or unrealistic meal plans—it’s about simple, actionable advice to help you perform at your best. Why Does Nutrition Matter for Sprinters? Think of your body as a high-performance engine. To sprint faster, recover stronger, and stay sharp on the track, your body needs premium fuel. Poor eating habits might leave you feeling sluggish, struggling to recover after training, or unable to focus during big races. On the other hand, the right foods can give you the energy to dominate workouts and the nutrients to rebuild your muscles afterward. We believe that every teen athlete has the potential to achieve greatness, and nutrition plays a critical role in that journey. By fuelling with purpose, our athletes are building stronger bodies and sharper minds, perfectly aligned with our motto of “Running Excellence.” What Does “Fuel for Excellence” Look Like? Our campaign focuses on teaching athletes to build balanced plates with the right mix of carbohydrates (your sprint fuel), protein (muscle recovery), and healthy fats (sustained focus). We’ve also shared quick, easy-to-follow tips for eating well despite busy schedules. For example: Prioritize eating within 30 minutes of training to speed up recovery. Stay hydrated throughout the day, not just during workouts. Choose real, whole foods over processed snacks—think bananas instead of candy bars or nuts instead of chips. What’s Next? As part of the campaign, we’ve created resources like infographics, meal suggestions, and social media content aimed at empowering athletes to make smarter food choices. We’re also encouraging our sprinters to share their favorite “fuel-up” meals with the squad to inspire each other. At FAST Running, nutrition isn’t just about eating—it’s about fostering a culture of health, discipline, and performance. By focusing on what we put into our bodies, we’re not only improving results on the track but also setting the foundation for long-term success. To our FAST athletes: your journey to excellence starts on your plate. Let’s fuel up and show the world what happens when nutrition meets determination!
