It was a race to remember at Stromlo Forest Park, as the FAST Running quartet of Dan Tait, Caleb Joliffe, Luke Allard, and Steve Dodt stormed to a silver medal in the Open Men’s 4x2000m Relay. Competing in the RunACT Winter Series, the squad put on a performance that showcased their middle-distance pedigree, pushing the pace against the powerhouse team from South Canberra Tuggeranong Athletics Club (SCTAC).
From the gun, the FAST Running team set an aggressive tone, with Dan Tait surging through the first 2km leg to keep the squad in striking distance. Caleb Joliffe followed up with a strong second leg, maintaining FAST Running’s position in the battle for the podium. By the time Luke Allard took over, the team had solidified its claim for a medal, and he delivered with a gutsy run that kept the pressure on the leaders.
Then came the moment of the day. Steve Dodt, making his much-anticipated return to competition after coronary surgery in May, took the baton for the anchor leg. With the crowd urging him on, Steve powered through the final 2000m, securing a well-earned silver medal for FAST Running—an inspiring comeback that highlighted both his resilience and the squad’s depth.
The event marked the first-ever running of the 4x2000m relay in the Winter Series, making FAST Running’s podium finish a historic achievement.
