FAST Athletes Shine with PB Performances
FAST Running athletes delivered another impressive night at the Summer Series on 15 November, producing personal bests, strong season-openers, and courageous efforts across sprints, middle-distance, and throws. With athletes from FAST Track, FAST for Sport, and FAST Performance all represented, the evening highlighted the depth, commitment, and culture of growth across the squad.
Ainsworth Brothers Deliver — Lewin Breaks 12s
Lewin Ainsworth (born 2011) continues his outstanding trajectory, breaking the 12-second barrier for the first time in the 100m with a sensational new PB of 11.91. It’s another major leap forward for Lewin, whose refinement in mechanics, race relaxation, and competitive instincts is becoming clearer every meet.
He carried this form into the 200m, clocking 24.41 — a sharp improvement on his seed time and a strong sign of the speed endurance he’s building ahead of All Schools.
Younger brother Sam Ainsworth (born 2013) showed great resilience across his sprint double, recording 14.15 in the 100m and 28.86 in the 200m. Sam continues to develop technically, and his commitment to racing against older athletes is fast-tracking his progression.
FAST Females Impress Across Sprints, Middle Distance & Throws
Anastasia Peters (born 2014) delivered another impressive meet, running 14.09 in the 100m and backing up with a composed and well-judged 2:38.55 in the 800m. Her ability to compete strongly across multiple events reflects her growing maturity and competitive IQ.
Nelum “Nelly” Ganesalingam (born 2010) added another consistent sprint double, running 15.18 (100m) and 32.11(200m). Nelly has been one of FAST Track’s most improved athletes of 2025, and her steady progression continues as she prepares for Nationals.
Tindra and Estrid Helgstedt, representing Tuggeranong, pushed through a demanding event load:
- Tindra (born 2012) competed in the 100m (16.15), delivered a strong 6.01m in the Shot Put, and followed it up with an 18.17m effort in the Javelin. Her versatility remains a standout strength.
- Estrid (born 2010) competed in the same triple, posting 16.51 (100m), 4.50m in the Shot Put, and 6.02m in the Javelin — a solid night showcasing grit across disciplines.
Ellie Barrett Drops a Big PB in the 400m
One of the standout performances of the evening came from Ellie Barrett (born 1990), who stormed through the line in 1:03.88, carving more than two seconds off her seed time. Ellie’s improved stride rhythm and confidence through the second half of the race were clear indicators of her progress this season.
Throwers Bring Power to the Field
In the Shot Put, Lucinda Christian (born 2015) recorded a consistent and technically sound 5.26m, while Anastasia, Estrid, and Tindra rounded out the FAST representation with competitive series of their own.
The Helgstedt sisters also competed in the Under 14 Javelin, with Tindra throwing 18.17m and Estrid recording 6.02m, further showcasing their versatility across events.
