FAST Athletes Shine at Summer Series — John Lamb Sets Australian Record
The track came alive at the AIS last Saturday night as FAST athletes delivered standout performances across every age group at the latest Capital Athletics Summer Series meet — capped by an Australian Record from veteran hurdler John Lamb.
Record-Breaking Moment
Lamb, representing New South Wales, once again showed why experience and excellence go hand in hand, clocking 11.20 seconds (-0.4) in the Men’s 75–79 60m Hurdles, setting a new Australian Record.
It was a masterclass in precision and power — a performance that drew applause from athletes and spectators alike.
“John continues to redefine what’s possible,” said FAST Head Coach Steve Dodt.
“He’s a living example of Running Excellence — disciplined, determined, and deeply respected by everyone on the track.”
Emerging Speed Across the Lanes
The night also belonged to FAST’s emerging talent, with Cecilia Ador and Daniel Nwaobi leading the way for Ginninderra Athletics in the senior sprints.
Ador stopped the clock at 12.73 (-0.3) in the women’s 100m before storming home to take the 200m win in 25.85 (-0.9), continuing her consistent season form.
Nwaobi was equally impressive, claiming victory in the men’s 100m with 11.30 (-0.5) and showing signs of building strongly toward the All Schools and Championship season.
Young Guns Rising
In the younger age divisions, Anastasia Peters and Nelum (Nelly) Ganesalingam, both representing Woden Athletics, showed poise and versatility across multiple events.
Peters’ night included:
- 2nd in the 60m (8.86s, -0.9)
- 2nd in the 400m (1:11.15)
- 1st in the Long Jump (4.15m, -0.1)
Her teammate Ganesalingam produced strong results across the 60m (9.42), 100m (15.31), and 200m (32.27), continuing to build experience and consistency.
From Ginninderra Athletics, Thivain Hasvi Ariyadasa and Don Seth Samarakoon added to the team’s success — Hasvi recording 14.75 (-0.8) in the 100m and 3.82m in Long Jump, while Seth soared to 4.71m (+0.0) to take the win in his event.
Strength Across the Squad
Senior athlete Ellie B (North Canberra Gungahlin) clocked 1:04.08 in the 400m, demonstrating the depth of FAST’s performance group, while multi-eventer John Lamb also competed over 200m (29.93, -0.9), showing his trademark versatility.
Together, these performances showcased what makes FAST unique — a squad where athletes from multiple ACT clubs, ages, and disciplines come together to compete, support, and elevate one another.
