Wind of change Canberra Sprint Coach, November 26, 2023January 18, 2024 This morning witnessed the next generation of FAST stamp their own history at Stromlo Forest Park. Performing one of the squad’s favourite overspeed sessions, the 2023 cohort have proven to be the fastest group to complete the training in the group’s history. FAST for Sport members Georgia, Sophie and Cody proved they can hold their own with blistering times, that got quicker and more impressive as the session progressed. Cody was spectacular with running up tall and going with the hill. Georgia embraced her inner sprinter and went hard, running consistent times that were half a second faster than her previous best. Sophie over the course of the session took a second off her fastest time, smashing the 14s barrier and just missed pipping Georgia on the last run of the day. FAST Track members Mathias, Vish, Daniel, Siena and Tom were equally outstanding. Tom’s times were all personal bests and his battles with Cody are now legendary. Siena took out the most consistent award for running back to back fast times that were well below her 100m PB. Vish has proven to be the fastest 400m runner to complete the session with blistering times that a 100m sprinter would be proud of. Mathias impressed lowering his times by 0.5s and nipping at the heels of Daniel throughout the first three heats. Daniel recorded the fastest times ever recorded in the squad at Stromlo and is in excellent form leading up to All Schools in Perth next month. Nate showed on his last heat time what we have all expected this season, that the U20 National 100m Para Record is in serious danger in December. Nate is running like a man with no time at the moment and with the wind at his back, he looked ominous in his FAST Performance today. Jaimi-Lee opted to run uphill and take on the mountain as every great 800m athlete has ever done, when been given the choice to do so. Jaime-Lee’s times were excellent and she is hitting some good form before her trip to Japan next month. With Nic away competing in Fiji, Joshua and Daniel are the next to travel for Nationals in early December. The squad has a busy few weeks ahead of itself before our traditional end of year celebration. If you’d like more information on our training programs, please Contact Us.
