FAST Running | Athlete First. Always.
With the Australian Athletics Championships (15–20 April, Brisbane) fast approaching, this weekend wasn’t one where you want disruption.
But disruption came.
The AIS Athletics Track — our usual high-performance base — was unavailable, hosting the Sri Chinmoy 48 Hour Track Festival. An incredible event in its own right, offering everything from the marathon through to the 48-hour ultra-marathon, but it meant the track wasn’t ours.
Woden Park wasn’t an option either, with seasonal booking changes across ACT Government sportsgrounds.
Two key venues gone.
Timing far from ideal.
So We Adapted — Because That’s What We Do
At FAST Running, we don’t wait for perfect conditions.
We look at what’s in front of us — and we build from there.
Because our focus is simple:
That means programming isn’t fixed to a venue.
It’s built around the individual — their event, their phase, their needs right now.
Saturday — Government House Hills
Saturday shifted to the hill.
What could have been a compromise became an opportunity.
Athletes took on bike efforts and competitive hill work, driving intent, power, and engagement in a different environment. There was energy. There was challenge. And there was connection — athletes pushing together, supporting each other, and embracing something outside the norm.
Sunday — Stromlo Forest Park (Grass)
Sunday moved to Stromlo.
On the grass, the session opened up — not as a fallback, but as a deliberate choice-based model.
Athletes selected options aligned to their competition phase:
- some focusing on rhythm and control
- others pushing intensity and expression
- all working within a structure designed to support performance in the weeks ahead
This wasn’t random.
It was agile programming in action — adapting in real time while staying anchored to long-term goals.
What Makes FAST Running Different
This is where our environment stands apart.
We don’t just deliver sessions.
We build athletes through partnership.
That means:
- listening and adjusting
- giving athletes ownership
- aligning sessions to the individual, not the group average
- maintaining standards, regardless of setting
Because performance isn’t just built when everything goes to plan.
It’s built when things change — and you respond.
More Than a Session
Weekends like this do more than keep training on track.
They build:
- resilience — adapting when the plan shifts
- confidence — knowing you can perform anywhere
- connection — shared experience, shared effort
- growth — physically and mentally
These are the qualities that show up when it matters most — not just at Nationals, but across an athlete’s journey.
Running Excellence — No Matter the Setting
From the AIS…
to Government House hills…
to the grass at Stromlo…
The environment changed.
The standard didn’t.
Because Running Excellence isn’t about the facility.
It’s about the mindset, the intent, and the people around you.
And at FAST Running, we’ll always find a way to move forward — together.
