There was no track tonight.
No spikes on synthetic surface.
No blocks.
No finish line.
Instead, there was dirt.
Bushland.
Gradient.
Bruce Ridge.
Hill sprints have long been part of sprint development. They build force, posture, acceleration mechanics and intent. But more importantly, they reveal something deeper — character.
What made this session special wasn’t just the incline.
It was who was on it.
FAST Performance athletes.
Juniors.
Masters.
Athletes from different programs and backgrounds.
All on the same hill.
All chasing the same standard.
That’s what running excellence looks like.
Different ages.
Different goals.
Same expectation.
The hill doesn’t care about PBs.
It doesn’t care about medals.
It doesn’t care how long you’ve been training.
Hills don’t lie.
They ask for force.
They demand posture.
They reward intent.
And tonight, every athlete answered.
Bruce Ridge reminds us that excellence isn’t surface-dependent. It’s standard-dependent. Whether we’re on the AIS track or in the bush under fading light, the commitment remains the same.
We build together.
That’s the FAST way.
