Water Running Canberra Sprint Coach, May 30, 2016April 27, 2024 FAST Running takes its training seriously. Group or individual sessions including mobility, strength, recovery work and pool running are held at the FAST Recovery Centre. Pool training can be highly beneficial for sprinters as it provides a low-impact environment for conditioning, recovery, and technique refinement. FAST Running performs short, high-intensity sprint intervals in the pool to simulate sprinting mechanics while reducing impact on joints. We utilize poolside plyometric exercises to enhance explosive power and speed. Sessions at the FAST Recovery Centre focus on underwater kicking drills to develop leg strength, power, and explosiveness. These pool training sessions offer athletes the chance to focus on sprinting technique and form refinement. The Pool is also used for low-intensity sessions for active recovery between high-intensity training days. The Pool also provides buoyancy to perform stretching and mobility exercises that target tight muscles and improve flexibility. When managing training load, we engage in deep-water running sessions to build cardiovascular endurance, maintain fitness, and facilitate active recovery. As part of our FAST & Active program we incorporate endurance swimming to complement sprint training by improving cardiovascular capacity and recovery between sprints.
