Pathways to Running Excellence

FAST Running - Training

The FAST Running squad continues to prove that age and experience are no barriers to success on the track. With the younger members resting or competing later in the day at the ACT Summer Series, it was the older athletes who took centre stage at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) on Saturday, training on Australia’s fastest track.

The men led the charge, with Kosal Mom, David O’Keeffe, John Lamb, and Brendan Pratt all honing their form in preparation for their respective upcoming competitions. Their commitment to refining their speed and technique demonstrates the dedication that defines FAST Running, regardless of the stage of an athlete’s career.

Thursday’s session saw an inspiring 800m time trial where Joanne Ainsworth smashed the three-minute barrier, signaling exciting progress in her middle-distance development. Meanwhile, Florence Bravo found her rhythm sprinting alongside her FAST Track teammates as she gears up for her first ACT Masters competition. Marijke Welvaert also returned to the track, making strides in her comeback program after breaking her foot late last year.

Absent from training this week due to work commitments, Jed Hissey is eager to rejoin the squad and continue his preparation for upcoming races. The Faster Masters were joined by FAST Track members Seth, Siena, and Mckenleigh, along with FAST for Sport athlete Lucy, for a session focused on speed development and refining running mechanics.

With competition season in full swing, every athlete—whether a seasoned competitor or a newcomer to the sport—is striving for their next big breakthrough. FAST Running offers a clear pathway to running excellence for athletes of all ages and backgrounds, whether they are training for elite competition, improving their speed for other sports, or simply looking to challenge themselves and reach new personal bests.

No matter where you start, there is always room to improve, compete, and achieve. If you’re ready to take your running to the next level, FAST Running is the place to be!
