Beating the Heat Canberra Running Coach, January 29, 2025February 5, 2025 FAST Running Adapts to Extreme Conditions With temperatures soaring to 36 degrees, the FAST Running squad took a smart and strategic approach to training—starting earlier in the day and shifting the session to the pristine grass surface at Stromlo Forest Park in Molonglo. 💡 Training Smart, Staying SafeUnder the guidance of Head Performance Coach Steve Dodt, our training was carefully adapted to balance performance with athlete health and wellbeing. The focus was on quality over quantity, ensuring a full session was completed without compromising recovery or hydration. Training in extreme heat requires careful planning, and today’s adjustments allowed our athletes to get the work done effectively. 🏃♂️ Grass Track Benefits & Kangaroo CompetitionStromlo’s grass surface provided an ideal alternative to synthetic tracks, reducing impact on joints while still allowing for high-speed efforts. And while there were no rival sprinters on the track, the squad did have to share the space with local kangaroos—adding a true Australian twist to the session! 🔥 This is Running ExcellenceEvery session counts in the lead-up to key competitions, and today’s training was a perfect example of adaptability, resilience, and commitment to excellence. Whether it’s heat, venue changes, or even wildlife on the track, FAST Running athletes are always ready to rise to the challenge. #FASTRunning #RunningExcellence #AdaptAndThrive #HeatTraining #SprintSquad FAST Track News Performance Mature TeensRunning TrainingSouth CanberraSprintingWellbeingYoung Adults
