Legends of FAST Canberra Running Coach, October 29, 1996November 25, 2023 The inaugural members of FAST were all friends of Head Coach, Steve Dodt. The squad competed at the Arafura Games, the Northern Territory Athletics Championships, the South Australian Athletics Championships, and the Australian Athletics Championships. Friends of friends later joined and the squad enjoyed much local and national success. Natasha Martin’s bronze medal at the Australian Championships, James Tom’s appearance in the Open Men’s 100m (11.58s) at the 1998 Australian Championships, Ken Lechleitner’s bronze medals at the South Australian Athletics Championships are some of the major highlights. Impressive debut performances by Steve Pachulicz, Mark Asendorf, Paul Breen, and Anthony McCormack in the Northern Territory Championships. Steve Dodt won two individual international bronze medals at the 1993 and 1995 Arafura Games, Gold at the 1993 South Australian Athletics Championships and many Gold medals at both the NT Athletics Championship. the ACT Athletics Championships, and the NSW Masters. Before Coaching, Steve Dodt was an Australian Champion in the Hurdles (ALAC), bronze medalist in the 4x100m, finalist in the 400m at Nationals, and placed fourth in the ALAC Multi-Event.
