Ava versus bike Canberra Sprint Coach, March 4, 2024March 4, 2024 On the weekend, Ava went looking for a hard training session, and she found it at Governor-General’s Hill. The uphill sprint session requires greater force production than running on flat terrain. This helps to improve speed, acceleration, and explosive power, which can translate to better performance on the pitch or the track. Saturday was Ava’s first session at GG’s Hill, and she found that uphill sprinting encourages proper running form, including a powerful push-off from the ground and a forward lean that promotes efficient forward motion. This helps to improve overall running technique and efficiency. As the session progressed, Ava discovered that as a high-intensity exercise, Uphill sprinting burns a significant amount of calories in a short amount of time, it elevates the heart rate and challenges the cardiovascular system. Ava is looking to do more regular uphill sprinting in order to improve her aerobic capacity, stamina, and overall cardiovascular health. Watch the recap of Ava’s session and contact Canberra Sprint Coach, Steve Dodt, if you’d like to join a session or two at GG’s in the future.
